Finding the balance with serial casting[CEO]

Hey ,

One of the most crazy good things that we do in CEO is follow up sessions!

Seeing treatment plans put into place and then seeing how the therapist builds on the win and frustrations creates such immensely powerful learning moments. Which is why I'm thrilled to share this follow up session with Billi and Jan!

Here's a few things you'll want to check out from this session:

  • What to do when serial casting progress stalls
  • How toes and calluses tell us about positioning needs in the cast
  • Varus posting and positioning ideas

+ so much more

Some clinical take-aways

  • Its ok to give kids a break from casting if unable to get to DFKE R1 at 15 and put in AFO's / turtle braces day and night to hold ROM.
  • Just keep on loading heels and keep tibias upright!
  • Its ok to mess around with shimming in front AND behind casts gradually millimeter by millimeter to give a long shoe for stability from the front AND behind.

+ some great references to additional resources and relevant research

As Jan said,

"Billi sees things that I don't... The ability to try something she suggests in an initial session - see the results and then come back for her to tweak and discuss why/ why not it's working. This makes ALL the difference."
♥️

Sit down and be inspired!

Warm regards,

Mindy
