Hey Australia, New Zealand, Europe, UK, Ireland

It's YOUR time!!

It's not often we have Wired Collective activities that favors your side of the globe quite as much, but it's happening tomorrow! I am super excited that it means we might see a whole lot of new faces turn up for the Scholar Sip Café.

Of course if you're on the other side of the globe, read on because there's stuff for you too!!

Grab Your Seat !

Ted Brown, Professor of Occupational Therapy, will be our guest and I am thrilled that we get to sit down with him and pick his brains. Here's just a few of his achievements:

  • He has over 30 years of experience working as an occupational therapist, with clinical experience in psychiatric, general hospital, and pediatric settings in Canada and Australia.

  • In 2017, he was made an inaugural Fellow of the Occupational Therapy Australia Research Academy (FOTARA) in recognition of his contributions.

  • In 2019, he was awarded the Roster of Fellows for the American Occupational Therapy Association (FAOTA) designation for excellence in education, research, and service to the profession internationally.

  • He co-authored the first edited book written by Australian occupational therapy authors for entry-level students titled "Occupational therapy in Australia: Practice and process issues" in 2017.

but of course, the thing that's most important for us at the moment, is the research he has done on Interoception. Ted will be joining us to discuss 3 key papers:

  1. The association between sensory processing and interoceptive awareness in neurotypical school-aged children aged 8-12 years.
  2. The differences in interoceptive awareness between boys and girls, and between child self-reports and parent proxy reports of children's interoceptive awareness.
  3. The Association Between Children’s Interoceptive Awareness and Their Daily Participation

And if you don't have time to read them, or think up some clever questions, then show up anyway, because we're going to be summarising them and talking through the questions and by the time you leave, you will be soooo much wiser - and if CEU's/CPDs are important, this is a great activity to add a few extra points to your portfolio.

On that note - I have found THE BEST, FREE AI platform that knocks everything else out the park for helping you capture thoughts, questions, ideas and summaries of research papers. Want to know what it is? Either show up for the Scholar Sip Café 10 minutes early for a quick demo, or if you're in the US/Canada and it's a terrible time for you, send in a question for Ted before tomorrow and I'll show my appreciation for the effort by sending you the inside scoop.

or show up for our Wired Weekly this week and I'll share it with you there too! You're going to love it!!

  • Wired Weekly: Round 3 of 4 of the mini-accelerators on Interoception is happening at the end of the week.

  • Laser Coaching: If you have a child you'd like to work through some practical interoceptive ideas with Kelly, this is your chance, submit an EOI HERE.

  • Community Chats: The Cairns group is chatting on WhatsApp - if you're going to the AusACPDM conference, you might want to join them! And Check out Dashboard Conversations for more on measuring DF range, NRX strapping, discussions from the Wise Table. It's a the best place for more considered and thoughtful conversations that goes beyond the socials of Facebook and WhatsApp.

With oodles of enthusiasm for what's possible,

Mindy
