WBV, Wine, AI, and airport interviews 🍷[TWC]

Oct 14, 2025 12:11 am

Hey ,

It is with the greatest of pleasure that I bring you more of my fumbling conscious incompetencies in my quest to know better and do better with the kids I am privileged to work with. I hope you are emboldened by said fumblings to come into this Wired Collective space with a growth mindset and a willingness to air your own fumblings too 💜

What am I talking about?

I just posted my Laser Coaching session with Susan where we dug into using WBV for a child with CMT - and it wasn't pretty, but it was full of good stuff! There was much to learn from hanging out with Susan and discussing the in's and out's of WBV in the context of a full therapy session and I'll share them with you in a second, but first here's 3 important things you need to know ...

  1. Podcast with Jess today
  2. No Book Club this week
  3. Grab your seat for the Wrap Up Q&A

‼️You'll find all the links you need in the hub >> https://twc.wiredon.ltd/

1 - Using AI in Health

We have our upcoming podcast interview TODAY with Jess London on using AI to democratize health in our new and strange world of technological acceleration. You'll find the link for that in the Hub.

Jess will be squeezing us in in her travels and so she will joining us from the airport which could be interesting. All that to say, she may be a little late but we are going ahead anyway and will just roll with the punches 😉 Either way, come hang out with me, bring a wine, a coffee or whatever your prefer when you take the time to put your feet up and dig into excellent conversations!

2 - No Book Club this week.

Book club has been such a great learning curve and if you haven't made one, there is still time to join for our last chapter pulling it all together. So many people have reached out to me about not being able to make this week that it makes sense to bump into to next week - so no book club this week - but we are all on for next week and you can still sign up and get your free chapters here >> https://bookme.name/wiredOnDevelopment

3 - Grab your seat for the Wrap Up Q&A

You'll find your link to grab your seat for our Wrap Up Q&A with Susan at the end of this month in the Hub.

All questions are welcome - TSN, WBV, NMES, FES - all the acronyms and more!!

There's always so much to learn from everyone's questions - it's casual, it's informative and it's just a great way to spend a hour or so digging deep into Susan's brain!

Talking about digging into Susan's brain, here's some key take-aways I took from our laser coaching conversation. :

1 - Frequency selection is based on child's preference and ease of eliciting the desired postural correction, but as rule of thumb:

  • Start at 15 Hz for weakness/CP; increase only when alignment and control are stable.
  • Lower frequencies (≈ 9 Hz) for dystonia (to reduce hyper-response).
  • Higher frequencies (≈ 25 Hz) tolerated by ataxic clients who seek strong feedback.

2 - Typical sequence:

  1. WBV (10–15 min total, broken into short bouts)
  2. FES or strengthening
  3. Gait/treadmill work

3 - Stop when:

  • Visible tremor fatigue appears.
  • Loss of postural alignment occurs.
  • Sensory overload or aversion reported.

Just wanted you to know you are amazing!
