Hey ,
Whoop!! We've got Book Club tomorrow - and you're invited!
But first:
- If you haven't yet grabbed your seat for Susan Hastings Wise Table with Jean-Pierre Maes - do that now >> https://bookme.name/wiredOnDevelopment/a-wise-table-in-the-wired-collective
- Submit your Laser Coaching EOI: https://bit.ly/TWClaser
- Choose your BookClub time and get the book: https://bookme.name/wiredOnDevelopment
đź’ˇ bonus tech hint - if you don't have time to sit and read, try a text to speech app! Speechify is AMAZING (Gwyneth Paltrow's my fave) and NaturalReaders comes in as a slightly cheaper close second. (both are free to trial)
Why is Chapter 1 worth reviewing as therapists?
Well I'm glad you asked!
- It reminds us that movement isn’t something we invent from thin air—almost everything, from walking to handwriting to facial expressions, starts from ancient, built-in brain circuitry. We tweak, combine, and polish these patterns, but the core ingredients are there from the start.
- Understanding these “building blocks” helps us see kids (and ourselves) with more patience and possibility. That wobbly first step or awkward pencil grip? It’s not failure—it’s the brain reaching back through millions of years for a solution, and sometimes needing us to provide the right environment or nudge (aka sensory input).
- The way our brains select, adapt, and refine movement—using both “big boss” control from the forebrain and the trusty workhorses lower down—gives us powerful clues for therapy. We can try new strategies, combine techniques, or return to basics
And if that's peaked your curiosity and got you just a wee bit excited, here's what you'll get when you join us tomorrow:
The vibe:
Think light-hearted, “nerd-camp for therapist,” with honest, in-the-trenches clinical reflection. Show up as you are, be it fired-up, frazzled, or somewhere in between.
The rhythm:
- We’ll warm up with a check-in to spark your brain and a bit of a chat to connect to everyone in the room.
- Then I've got some 🔥Questions (designed to link brilliant neuroscience to actual therapy practice). You'll choose your favorite Q and spend a little time scribbling down your wildest or wisest ideas before we break out into small groups. Expect energising conversation, fresh perspective, and more than a few “aha!” moments.
- We pull it all together back in the big group, surface fabulous insights, and create space for any clinical tangents, because sometimes the best breakthroughs come from unexpected detours.
- We’ll set up next week’s reading, and if you’re feeling inspired, you can take on a mini “action experiment” to try out in your sessions and report back. (No pressure, just growth.)
And if you’re thinking, “I only skimmed the chapter, can I still come?” YES!
If you haven’t touched the book yet, double YES!
You belong here regardless of how much you read, or whether you’re bursting with ideas or just eager to listen in. What matters is showing up, trading insights, and finding new ways to think about what we do.
Quick reminder:
RSVP and grab the link to the (legal) free online book >> https://bookme.name/wiredOnDevelopment
(Session 1 and 2 are the same, just at different times for different time zones)
See you and your “spark” tomorrow!
Mindy
P.S. Just to remind you your voice matters. Whether your week was smooth sailing or a total scramble, we'd all love to see you at the book club - come help build our collective community one question, one spark of curiosity at a time.
