Hey ,

Did you see we've got a bonus session on NRX strapping happening tomorrow in The Wired Collective?

NRX Strapping

The NRX range is a soft strapping velcro friendly material that can be used to make abdominal binders and splints for thumbs, hips and limbs. Emma is an occupational therapist who is going to be talking us through some ideas for using NRX in therapy and demoing some ways you can whip up some fabulous dynamic, custom splints in a heartbeat!

Check the dashboard calendar for times and meeting links HERE

And of course once you're on the dashboard, you're going to want to check out our last spotlight of the series

Spotlight 7 - Integrating Interoception

Spotlight 7 is fun look at interoception from a whole lot of unexpected angles. We cover things like it's impact on vision, time perception, sensory sensitivities, social engagement and more. I added some more cheat-sheets for a rapid fire way to absorb some of the nerdy research I found this week, including a gem linking interoception to physical activity and an interesting test called the Jumping Jack Paradigm for measuring interoception in preschoolers.

And there's a link in there if you're keen on jumping in to a laser coaching session with Kelly. All you need to do is submit an expression of interest at this point. You don't need consent yet as Kelly will look through the different kids and choose the ones where she thinks she can be most helpful in this short-coaching format. We just need to know

  1. The age of the child
  2. The main thing you would like to focus on in a discussion with Kelly
  3. Your timezone

That's it! Easy and Impactful!!

Talking about easy and impactful - You might also want to checkout some community action

Community Connections

  • Rex is looking to gather up a crowd in Australia who would be interested in getting together for a course in January 2025 > link
  • Stacie is looking for input around a little one she is working with that seems to be having some significant difficulties with interoception > link
  • Wired Collective therapists are planning on hanging out together in Cairns. If you're not connected to the WhatsApp group, join here > link

And come hang out with me in The Wired Weekly this week because I am itching to show you the progress my little 2 yr old with hemiplegia has made and talk about how this related back to interoception. Every time I look at the research I find more studies related to this early link of interoception development with body awareness and motor control. It's very cool. Wired Weekly times are HERE

Warm regards,

Mindy

PS. Here's your cheat sheet for the week

  1. NRX: Learn it!
  2. Spotlight 7: Watch it!
  3. Laser Coaching: Do it!

Last weeks email had the wrong link!! Here's the correct one on Scite.ai, I made for Susan Hastings as she was asking about how to look for research specifically comparing kids with CP to TD kids. In this video I to through my workflow on how I would do that. Check it out here even if it's just to see some fascinating research on this topic.
