Is child-led play really therapy?

Hey

A few month ago I stumbled on a Facebook post written by an OT about a therapy session in school that grabbed my attention. It was a rather long post. Not the ones we're used to seeing on social media that cater to our 10 second attention span. This particular OT took the time to be reflective and detailed. Weaving in clinical nuggets and insights that were both easily actionable and brilliantly creative.

I gave it a 👍 so the Facebook algorithm showed me a few more.

I liked them all!

So I did a little Facebook stalking to find out who was writing these great posts. Turns out it was a Fabulous OT called Kelsie Olds, otherwise known as

The Occuplaytional Therapist

Have you bumped into her on your social media scrolls? If not, you're missing out, and if you have, then I'm guessing you'll be as excited as me to know we are going to be jumping into a WiredOn Interview to discuss a couple of topics that are really close to my heart

  • Push-in vs Pull-out therapy in schools
  • Holding onto your values and working at the top of your scope in systems that can be counter to this (so much here but thinking about EBP, meeting EP requirements, behaviour management etc)
  • Bringing play back into school therapy across the ages

What questions or topics would you like us to play around with for this upcoming interview?

I would LOVE to have you help shape this conversation!

With so much enthusiasm,

PS. What did you think of our last conversation with Margaret Mayston? There's been some interesting comments around this in the group
