Hey

Just wanted to send you a courtesy reminder that access to joining us in The Wired Collective is ending in a few hours.

We're are all excited to start playing around with Scite together as we dig into the research and discuss how we will apply it clinically.

There’s still time to join us

Imagine this…

You’re trying to decide between an abduction stander or a regular stander for your kiddo, GMFCS III, just gone 2 years.

You hop onto Scite, and ask the assistant, “What’s the evidence for using abduction standers in young children with cerebral palsy ?

A couple of seconds pass (just long enough to check your messages) and then Tadah 💃 the assistant answers for you:

“Abduction standers have been studied for their effects on hip development and range of motion in children with cerebral palsy. One study found that standing abduction at 15° to 30° for 10 hours per week reduced hip migration percentage (MP) and preserved range of motion for up to 7 years (Martinsson & Himmelmann, 2021). The study compared two case-control groups, one with adductor-psoas tenotomy and the other without, and found that median MP decreased in the participants without surgery and increased in their matched participants. However, the participants who had adductor-psoas tenotomy experienced a decrease in MP. Additionally, range of motion was greater after surgery in participants who performed standing abduction (Martinsson & Himmelmann, 2021).”

A brilliant start! But not enough - the answer’s a little messy and the rest of the AI paragraph goes off on a tangent before finishing on a generic, “it depends’ conclusion. So you jump into a Wired Collective space where a bunch of your colleagues are hanging out. It’s the perfect time to share your Scite references and get into a clinical brainstorming session about different types of standing frames, the clinical reasoning behind abduction vs traditional standers and dosage and timing. The conversation expands into a discussion on the difference between addressing long term bone health and joint integrity vs motor control and motor learning, before veering off slightly towards walkers, 24 hour activity guidelines for children with cerebral palsy and different approaches to facilitating standing and walking activities. Someone then does a quick share screen on how to use Boolean searches on Scite to laser focus the article recommendations, and the conversation takes a turn to the difference between scoping reviews and systematic reviews before bringing it back to how you can use the research you’ve found with Scite to make the best decision for your kiddo.

You exit the Wired Collective space feeling energised, informed and excited about your therapy plan, because you have the resources and network to support you exactly where you are in your own journey to excellence.

I want you to have an amazing bunch of colleagues and friends that you can tap into for deep, nerdy conversation every.single.week!

I want you to feel energized and excited about the important work you do every day

I want you to have access to the tools and technology that make is so easy for you to stay informed, curious and knowledgeable about this complex world of neuromotor disability AND the evidence, confidence and energy to fight for your kids when you know that they can do better, even when the systems and processes block you every step of the way.

But most of all… I want you to carve out some space in your super crazy busy life to nurture your wild therapy heart so that you don’t burn out, because we have such a privileged role to play in the lives of the kids and families who come to us for support, we really can’t afford to not be our best selves.

PS I can’t help but share a bit of the conversations we’ve been having in The Wired Collective as we jump into Scite. I just LOVE the blend of tech and the clinical work we do and I get such a kick out of seeing what it makes possible for us

Here’s a few of the comments Wired Colllective members have shared:

"Love it, thanks Mindy!… just went down the rabbit hole for 2 hours!"

"It worked for me. I jumped straight in to ask when do infants born with below knee amputation walk independently with prosthesis. So helpful! Now I can tell my clients mum....what I found."

"I used scite assistant to prepare for presentation next month on B&B dysfunction, it was so much fun!!!! I kept putting off preparing it but scite made it so much more fun 😜”

P.P.S. If you have an questions, hit reply and I'll get back to you before the countdown ends
