Interoception is back on the cards
Sep 30, 2024 2:35 pm
Hi ,
We are back to regular scheduled Wired Collective activities this week (sort of).
First a bit of housekeeping:
You may have noticed some emails coming your way that said something along the lines of Dear (noticeable nothing)... and if that was the case then I'm hoping you realized it wasn't me just losing my marbles!
Although that's not far from the truth.
With the summit I switched email managers and then switched back and names got last in the process. So I've reloaded the whole list. If I don't have your preferred email address for getting newsletters, please just hit reply and let me know so I can fix it.
Next up - What's you need to know
Someone asked me a great question this week. And the great thing about great questions is that they help clarify your thinking - so thanks for asking what we actually do in The Wired Collective Nancy 😉
Here's how I answered:
The Wired Collective is a curated learning experience. We dig into a new topic every quarter and instead of our attention being pulled in every direction, we dig deep into one topic at a time. We do clinical case studies focused on the spotlight topic and we go deeper with expert interviews and other invited guests. We look at application, theory, research, hot topics etc around one topic of interest each quarter so that we can move into a more integrated understanding of how that topic fits with our own work and experience.
And this quarter, that topic is Interoception.
We have spent the better part of the last few months:
- Defining interoception and how it relates to other senses.
- Talking about the neuroscience behind interoception.
- Looking at how we can assess and measure interoception.
- Practical strategies for building interoceptive awareness in children.
- How interoception connects to emotional regulation, behavior, and motor skills.
- Adapting interoception activities for different ages and abilities.
- The importance of curiosity and co-regulation when working on interoception.
And if like me, the Summit took you off topic, I thought you might appreciate a quick clinically focused summary to refocus you. I made some Interoception flash cards for you (and me!) to get us up to speed quickly:
Click here to catch up quickly with these Interoception Flash Cards
But wait!
There's MORE!!
Much, much more!
And you'lI find it all in The Wired Collective Hub where you can dip your toes into assessment and screening tools, workbooks, exercise cards, research, videos and more related to our Interoception spotlight!
The Hub is set up so that you can scroll quickly thorough the resources. We've covered so much good stuff there's bound to be something that jumps out at you for at least one of your kids! That's why you're here right?
Go searching for that little piece of gold that's going to make all the difference to someone!
(you will need to have logged in to the Hub before any of the links in this email work - if you don't remember your password, just use the magic link. If the magic's not working, Mindy's waiting at her computer to help get you sorted! Just reply to this email)
When you get to the Hub, make sure to check out the NEW discussion section for our community. I'm uber excited because this means we can now keep everything all things Wired Collective in once place (I told you we were downsizing and simplifying right?!)
I made you a little video to help you find your way around the Hub easily, just in case you want some help in understanding how the Hub and discussion section works.
Here's your steps to excellence this week
Step 1. to getting reconnected is to dive back into thinking about Interoception (no matter if it's a quick read through the flash cards or scrolling through all the resources in the hub) and test out the Discussion board by leaving a comment or question.
(that's it! There's only 1 step - you've got this!)
Wishing you all the feels!
Mindy
PS There's no Wise Weeklies this week - more on those coming soon...
