Hey ,
Here's your checklist for all things Wired
☑ The Mana Study Discussion:
This was SUCH a cool presentation and thought provoking discussion! Because it's unpublished work, Fi requested that it wasn't recorded, however she was happy to share the audio so this will be posted up for you next week in the dashboard. If you weren't there, be prepared for some brilliant insights around clinical practice, coaching, research and so much more.
☑Be in it to Win it:
The nuggets, insights and reflections are mind blowingly good! How amazing is this Wired Collective of passionate therapists? Here's just a few examples:
"I really liked the hourglass analogy. Quite often young people say 'i don't know' when I ask them about goals/ aims and then in my head i'm thinking well we need to work on XYZ. So actually coaching them to narrow it down and come down to what their number one concern/ goal is is really helpful and stops the therapist in their tracks of the usual 'ok you you don't have the answers... but guess what...I DO!!!!!". essentially, work harder to help them get the answers!
Stacie Ahern
"I liked the reminder in spotlight #3 to repeatedly check-in with parents/caregivers to be certain that session to session, we are staying focused on their most important goals, as circumstances change quickly, and if I am not using the right prompts, ultimately, I am potentially missing out on key information that could make or break a productive session for them. I will be using the phrases grid for sure, and not just for the week!!
Kathy Volkman
"I had a phone call today with a family and instead of jumping into what I thought was the most important, I paused and asked the mum "what's the most important thing right now" and not surprisingly it was a bit different to what I was expecting.... the conversation eventually got back to what I thought/understood to be the main issue but mum seemed really happy she lead the conversation and I was trying (really hard not to interrupt) to actively listen more, she was so appreciative. My next tool box challenge to use - what's your takeaway from today - watch this space!

PPS. You may have heard rumors about an NZ/Aus meetup happening in 2024 to coincide with the Australian Academy of CP and Developmental Medicine (AACPDM) Conference in Cairns. The AACPDM conferences are always high quality learning and Cairns is spectacular! If you're keen hit reply and tell me if you'd prefer a meetup in Cairns or you want to add NZ to your travels since you're coming all this way anyway.
