Mastering the Art of Exercise Cueing 🎯

Hi ,
Cueing is one of the most powerful tools in a coach’s arsenal. The right cue can transform a client’s movement, while the wrong one can throw them off completely. As trainers, we verbalize cues all day—some land perfectly, while others… well, let’s just say they go right over our clients’ heads.
Understanding internal vs. external cues is key:
🔹 Internal cues focus on what the body is doing (e.g., “squeeze your glutes”).
🔹 External cues focus on an outcome or an external reference (e.g., “push the floor away”).
Both have their place, and knowing when to use which can drastically improve movement quality, skill acquisition, and results. Plus, when you cue effectively, it shows you know your stuff!
