˗ˏˋ Celebrating 40 ˎˊ˗ with Strength, Health, and a Special Giveaway!

Hi ,
As I approach a new decade—turning 40 in just a couple of weeks—I've been caught off guard by how my 30s are wrapping up. Stepping into my 40s, I feel fit, strong, and mostly excited for what’s to come. Yet, life has thrown some surprises my way, leading to more doctor’s visits recently than I’ve had in my entire life.
For years, I’ve put my own needs on the back burner to focus on others’ goals and well-being. As a coach, mentor, friend, and teammate, nothing brings me greater joy than supporting and uplifting others. But somewhere in prioritizing everyone else, I forgot to prioritize myself—and that eventually caught up with me.
Life’s demands—relationships, work, competition, unexpected challenges—can pile up, adding stress before we even notice. Ignoring the subtle messages our bodies and minds send us to slow down can lead to burnout. I know I’m not alone in this; many of us put work, families, or clients ahead of ourselves, fearing self-care is selfish. In fact, it’s the opposite.
Here’s a gentle reminder: It’s okay to put yourself first. Self-care isn’t selfish; it’s essential. Remember, just like the saying goes on a plane—put on your own oxygen mask before helping others.
Practical Steps for Self-Care:
- Take some time off when needed
- Delegate tasks to lighten your load
- Book a doctor’s appointment before issues escalate
- Allow yourself rest, even if it means missing a workout or sleeping in
Taking care of yourself doesn’t make you weak; it’s a strength. Listen to those whispers asking you to slow down, and avoid being forced to stop when you’d rather keep going. Believe me, it’s no fun!
