Hi
This morning I read a really interesting article about the trend with younger adults and teens for self-observation, and I'm not talking the introspective, productive moments of reflection. The trend with selfies has apparently grown to watching video footage of yourself going about life on those easily installed home cameras. In this self-consumption, as it was called, the viewer is constantly seeking to understand how they are seen in the world. The closest my generation got to this was getting weirded out when we heard our voices on an answering machine for the first time. I'd say, "Do I really sound like that?" There might be a parallel in writing. Some parts of your sub-conscious self is on that page and the compulsion to put it there are read it back isn't much different than the TIkTok trend of replicating certain emotions to see how you look. Yeah, it's a wild world of self-expression these days. But maybe we haven't changed much as human beings, just the technology has.
Speaking of being watched... exhibitionism is a trend not going anywhere at these clubs.
