Imagine working hard on an assignment only to be unfairly accused of using AI to cheat. This is happening to students everywhere, putting their academic success and futures at risk. These false accusations, based on flawed AI detection tools, are damaging students' reputations, jeopardizing college admissions, and even financial aid opportunities.
This issue doesn’t only affect public schools. Private schools are also required to follow Department of Education guidelines if they want their students to qualify for federal financial aid like FAFSA. Schools risk losing federal funds if they continue to use invalid AI detection tools, much like they did with online courses that lacked proper student engagement in the past. Teachers are ironically using AI tools to detect AI misuse, but these tools are flawed.
Our petition calls on the Department of Education to enforce stricter guidelines for the use of AI detection tools in schools—public and private. We’re urging the Department to stop funding tools that are not scientifically valid and ensure that all schools protect students' rights and education. By signing, you’re helping protect students’ access to fair education and financial support.
Join us in protecting students' futures. Sign the petition now, and together we can stop the AI witch hunt in education!
