Hi

Thanks so much for being here, whether you've been with me for a while or you're brand new, I'm really glad you're part of this community. Every week I'll be sharing practical tech tips you can use straight away, spotlights on things I think you'll find genuinely useful, and a peek at what's happening in my little corner of the training world.

Let's dive in!

🛠️ Tip of the Week

Word: Hidden Text for Notes or Metadata

Did you know you can hide text inside a Word document without deleting it?

Simply highlight the text you want to hide, head to Font settings, tick the Hidden box, and it disappears from view but it's still sitting quietly in the document.

This is really handy for things like internal notes, reminders to yourself, or conditional content you don't always want to print.

One thing worth knowing though - hidden text isn't truly invisible to everything. AI tools like Microsoft Copilot can still see it, so if someone asks for an AI-generated summary of your document, that hidden content could be included. Something to keep in mind before you tuck away anything sensitive!

That said, it's a great trick for things like adding a link to your public company website with supporting notes, useful context that sits neatly out of sight until you need it.

🌟 Spotlight: From Idea to Income

imageHave you ever thought about writing a book?

Memoirs, short stories, poetry, a guide to help your clients or colleagues. Whatever it is someone out there is waiting to read it. The trouble is, getting started can feel overwhelming. How long should it be? How much content do you need? And once you've written it, how on earth do you publish it?

That's exactly what we cover in the free From Idea to Income workshop and you'll have answers to all of that and more in just one hour. It's packed full of practical information to get you from that spark of an idea to actually holding your book in your hands.

Animation is the answer.

In this YouTube video, I walk you through how to animate text, graphics and SmartArt in PowerPoint. Including the different types of animations available and my top suggestions for keeping things looking sleek and professional rather than distracting.

It's easier than you think, and it makes a real difference.
