Here's what Anikulapo could have done better!

What do you think Saro who became Anikulapo could have done differently? Here's what I think.
Saro never really had a mind of his own. Apparently he was sold at a very young age into slavery which affected his ability to make firm decisions for himself.
You saw how it played out with Awarun, his sugar mommy. He gave in to her desires and however, things turned out fine with his craft later. But did it end there?
Queen Arolake had also, truth be told, sexually harassed him but he couldn't identify it as a problem and so he went on to begin a relationship with her, explored her many love escapades and agreed to flee with her which brought more troubles.
Now if he had disagreed to all of these things and concentrated on improving and growing his craft which was making and selling of Aso-ofi, things would have gone smoothly for him but he was swayed by every thing that fronted itself as an opportunity.
It's almost the same thing a lot of us are faced with in the days of trying to figure out what really would work for us.
You could hear that digital marketing is paying now and then you go into it, by tomorrow when you hear Tech is the real deal, you become interested and dump a career you're building in digital marketing.
Not to get me wrong though, evolving is a very beautiful thing and yes, we discover ourselves the more we grow.
However, the point is what is the guiding factor for your choices? Are you being controlled by the fat figures people attribute to these skills or you are convinced it's actually what you want to and can diligently do, and even thrive in in the field?
So you see not every opportunity is meant for you. Like Saro whose skill was to thrive in making of Aso-ofi, yours might be to excel in digital marketing. So it's best to know what you really want and pursue it. Also to know when to say "NO".
