Here are the Top 7 things I learnt in the process.

1.  The opportunity/ funding can give you a minimum of ₦3million and a maximum of ₦100million in the form of loan, equity investment and grant.

2.  If you are between 18 and 40, please maximize the opportunity. You will not be able to apply again once you are above 40 because, at age 40, you are expected to be giving back to the society.

3.  Apply early. In a recent Twitter Space, the project management office for this project said hundreds of applications are submitted daily.

 4.  If you are over 40, encourage people around you who are within the age range to apply.

5.  Anyone with a new business idea can apply, and if they don’t have a CAC certificate, they can generate a free one on the SMEDAN platform.

 6.  Be reasonable in your ask. You know it is a competition. Equity investment, Loan, and Grant, in that order, are priorities to the project management office of this funding opportunity.

7.  You need a 5-page business plan detailing your business details, Funding Proposal, and Implementation schedule. This document will determine if you will be considered or not as this application process is a competitive one.
