Codelessly Backer Update #5

Hi ,

80+ Website Components are now available in the Codelessly Editor! These high quality components can be drag and dropped into your project via the new "Web Components" button.

I'm very excited to share with you these components because they are different from the components you find in other UI builders. Our components are what I call Standard Reference Components, or SRC components for short.

What makes SRC Components different?

Following the theme of Codelessly, our SRC Components are 100% customizable. Remember how components in other UI builders have Preset options to change the title, font, etc? You couldn't customize anything outside of those presets. Those limitations were extremely frustrating because it meant that you'd be stuck fighting the tool and have to compromise your design.

With SRC Components, you won't have to fight the tool because you'll be able to customize everything, down to the last pixel.

A Solid Foundation to Spark Your Imagination

One problem with using prebuilt components is that the component has it's own style and design and that often clashes with what you're trying to build. Our approach to components is to give you a jumpstart and facilitate, adding zero blockers in your way.

That's why one of the guiding design philosophies for our components was to be style agnostic and layout focused. You'll find adding your own style on top of each component to be incredibly natural. Each icon, color, and image can be easily changed. More importantly, you can easily add your own content on top and it'll look great.

More than Wireframes, It's the Ability to Build A Real Product

Personally, I'm not a designer so I have a really hard time communicating my thoughts to design and achieving the design I want. In fact, at the start of this project, I even had a mental block that prevented me from building websites.

Perhaps you've heard of the "Apple Visualization Test" and have seen this image.

Apparently, people's minds work differently and one of those differences is the ability to "see" images in your mind's eye. Author John Green recently discovered this phenomenon and his reaction was quite entertaining.

My mental block was that when it came to visualizing a website, I was a complete 5. I couldn't picture the layout so even communicating with design was a challenge. If 1 is the finished, working website, then I was the furthest away possible from it at a 5.

In my mind, I needed components that were at a 2. Components that just had to be customized instead of a 10 step process starting from scratch. Our SRC Components are designed to eliminate the uncertainty so you never have to start with a blank canvas. Start at the finish line!

For example, if you want to communicate a feature of your product, you can choose from one of our 20+ feature layouts. Pick the layout you like, then replace the copy with your message and begin collaborating with your designer there.

I hope that you'll find building with infinitely customizable "near-production" components is a much better process than building with wireframes or empty blocks. And, if you're like me, I hope this tool helps you bridge a communication gap with designers.

Finally, to close, we'll be sharing a Codelessly Starter app and step-by-step instructions for deploying websites and apps soon.
