MY TOPIC THIS WEEK: How to Have a Positive Body Image


A poor body image can affect your self-esteem, leading to poor performance and depression, or what seems to be a never-ending spiral effect of adverse events. When your confidence is slashed, it makes sense that your performance suffers too. Thankfully, there are ways to break free from this negativity and build a more positive body image to live a happier and more successful life.


I. IDEAS FROM ME


Ignore Other People's Opinions

It isn't your business anyway. If you don't know this person, why is their opinion more valuable than yours? Even if you do know them, the same concept holds. As sad and scary as it might sound, you can only rely on yourself to live life at your best. Therefore, don't let other people's opinions control how you live your life, and don't give their views more value than your own.


Adopt A Healthy Lifestyle

Enjoying a positive body image does not mean you are at a healthy body weight or the next Victoria's Secret Runway Model. It's about loving yourself no matter the situation, which is why you should fuel your body appropriately to keep your body well-balanced nutritionally and emotionally.


Live Each Day as If It Is Your Last

Stop occupying your mind with how you look and find what is more important in your life. When you live life like it's your last, you start to focus on friends, experiences, and things that make you feel good and happy more instead.


Stop Comparing Yourself to Others

Every single body is different. You won't achieve others' looks without the right genetics, and that is a beautiful thing. When you fall into this unhealthy habit, find the qualities you admire and compliment them instead of wishing you were like them. Comparison is only draining and wastes valuable time. Use it as motivation to get what you want.


Create A List of Things You Love About Yourself

Document the things you love about yourself. Keep your list somewhere you can come back to. Anytime you feel down, pull this list out and read it aloud. Avoid anything to do with your weight or how you look. Pick the things that give you a strong sense of pride and happiness. This list is an excellent source of motivation to get you back on track.


Fight Negativity with Positivity

Positivity is an emotion that is often easier to talk about than do consistently. Anytime you find yourself thinking negatively, turn it around into something positive, or at the very least focus on neutral thoughts. Dwelling on what you don't like makes them more prominent. Don't allow yourself to do this.


There will be times when you give in to the negativity. You are only human, and you need to allow yourself to feel emotions. Just don't let it get in your way of success. Find the right plan for you, or talk to someone to help you get on the right track. Use this as a guide to inspire a positive body to imagine.
