Sometimes paintings go sideways.

Hey there, , I want to tell you a story maybe you can relate to...

Once upon a time, I was a freshman in college and having a hard-core identity crisis.

It was a really rough season, to be honest.

The Word and Two Sparrows, acrylic, 2010

The story behind the painting (and yes, it's supposed to be sideways...)

Walking and praying, I felt God say to me, “Look at the creation around you. Isn’t it beautiful? You also are my creation.”

Slowly and steadily, God was changing my perspective (which is why, in my art process, I turned the painting sideways and finished it that way). The perspective change was declaring my worth in God's eyes, which are very different from my own.

When He made me, he knew I'd be an artist. He has also enabled me to see beauty, and to create. I just needed his help to see that same beauty in myself, as His work of art.

He says that I am as beautiful as the tree, the stars, the moon. I am as valuable - and even more – than the sparrow.

And know what, friend? So are YOU.
