Are You A Healthy Worker?

imageHey there

My aunt in the village died.

She was a hardworking woman. Sometimes she overworked herself.

She was a sacrificial person, she went above and beyond for her kids and everyone around her.

My aunty was a caterer. She was responsible for a lot of the Igba Nkwu (bride price ceremony) that happened in my village and she cooked with firewood.

Her health condition started a few years ago and like many of our parents, she believed it wasn’t such a big deal until it became a big deal.

While interogating my mum on what could have happened, it seemed like the years of burning wood had compromised her lungs.

I didn’t know the negative impact of using charcoal, keroesene or wood to cook. Heck, many of us request it because of the burnt flavour it adds to food.

World Health Organization (WHO) has data to show that millions of women and children die every year from exposure to smoke inhaled through traditional cooking methods.

The death of my aunt was tragic. She really did deserve better because she was an amazing human who worked hard everyday.

Many of us work hard, we contribute greatly to the growth and development of our organizations but many of us neglect our bodies in the process.

We hurt our bodies by not exercising saying we don’t have time, but we show up at work everyday.

We hurt our bodies by eating high amounts of sugar, sodium and by eating too much highly processed foods.

There are many positive lifestyle habits we neglect that unfortunately can hurt our health in the future.

As we celebrate workers day, I want to remind you to also work on your health and wellbeing.

I know working hard impacts our finances but remember that poor health can cost you all of that money.

Do you know your nutrition plays a crucial role in safeguarding and nourishing your body?

Last year, I started teaching basic nutrition, and my sessions have revealed so much to me.

I've come to realize that many people lack a clear understanding of what they eat, and will fall for even the most ridiculous diet solutions.

On May 11th, 2024, I invite you to join me in a virtual class where I'll delve into the fundamentals of nutrition so you can learn how to make plates of food that not only nourishes your body but also safaguards it from dieseases.

If you want to join, reply this email, or send a message to +234 907 658 2910 to reserve your spot.

Please tell others about it!

With Love
