I didn't want to be a teacher

Yeah ...
when I was finishing school, I wanted to travel abroad as a journalist.
But my mom said she couldn't afford to send me to the institution in Kyiv I wanted.
So I enrolled in a local pedagogical university instead (to be a teacher 🙄)
I actually liked being a student there:
Cool subjects related to English, new friends, writing discussion club I joined …
But teaching, quite frankly, was not something I looked forward to.
But something unexpected happened during my 5th year.
They sent us to do work experience (=teaching practice) for 2 months in schools, with real kids.
I tried it, and it felt right.
Turned out, I was good at teaching.
The kids I taught became interested in English. They had fun. Surprisingly, I had fun, too.
"Teaching English is not so bad", I decided after the practice.
"Teaching is amazing!" I thought when I started working at the Foreign Languages Department at my university after I graduated. Teaching adults was even more fun.
I have enjoyed it ever since.
💥You can't always predict what you'll love doing or what you're good at. You think it's boring or it's not for you only until you try it for some time.
Yours "thankfully didn't become a journalist",
Tania.
If you were looking for a sign to revive your English, that was it. Answer these questions (they're in Russian) if you want to work with me this month - and I'll get in touch with you.
