It’s Gone on Long Enough-Let’s Help Each Other

Apr 14, 2021 4:30 am

Face it, none of us like spam, flooded mailboxes, or information about stuff we could care less about.  Our life is filled with ads, from the television to our social media. It gets tiring.

On the other hand, we do like to hear about free offers, books that take us away from the busy boredom of our lives, and most of us like saving money. I’m pretty much like you. I like all those things.

We have a way to help each other in this.   I want to help you avoid information you don’t want.

Somehow, at some time, you got included on my email list. Whether you signed up for it through one of our special offers, or through my website, or through social media-somehow you were included and I’m very glad you’re here. However, if you aren’t glad you’re here, I need to know. Here is what I am proposing to get us both out of the quandary of people who really don’t read, or don’t read sci-fi, fantasy, cozy mysteries,  or spiritual works (our four main kinds of books) and who need to be taken off my lists so I don’t send you emails about those topics anymore and give you one more email to delete. I also need to know if you do want to stay on the list.

For those who want to leave, unsubscribe-there is a button to do this. I would rather you hit unsubscribe than delete. Unsubscribe will make it so you don’t get any more free offers from us; unsubscribe will take you out of the list. (And yes, I will be sorry to see you go, but I’ll understand.) It saves us both time and effort for you to do it if you aren't interested in the freebies and discounts and speicals. I won’t send you what you don’t want to see, you won’t get emails you don’t want from us. Win-win, yes?

For those who want to stay, get free books or discounted ones, hear about the new ones coming out (And we have an entire new sci fi series that just started, and a new cozy mystery coming out next month that you’re going to love) I need you to do a thing called whitelisting our email. It’s really pretty simple.

Whitelisting simply means that you are telling your email provider (gmail, Outlook, whomever) that you want emails from us to be allowed through and not sent to spam. It makes it so you don’t have to go looking for it to find out what this month’s specials are-and we have monthly specials of at least three books, either free or 99 cents.

In Outlook, it’s really simple-

Click on “Settings”, then “View all Outlook settings”.

Go to “Junk email”, then choose “Safe senders and domains” or “Safe mailing lists” to select my email as one you want to whitelist. Cut and paste it in and voila! It’s ready to go.

In gmail, also simple, you do the following:

Click the settings button (in the top-right corner of the screen), then select “Settings” from the resulting drop-down menu.

Navigate to the tab labeled “Filtered and Blocked Addresses.”

Select “Create a new filter” and enter the emails or domains you want to whitelist.

Cut and paste my address in then  click “Create filter” to approve the new filter, mark “Never send to Spam”. Again Voila! It’s white listed.

I’m going through all my lists this month to sort out who and who doesn’t want to be here. Next month, for those who remain, I shall be sending out to my newly (hopefully not shrunken too much), sorted list, a special offer you are not going to believe-but are really going to enjoyI hope to see you next month. You are going to love the special.

And thank you for your patience as we update all our lists.
