My fans and readers know that when I release a new book, I always try to make it free for a short time in order that my die-hard fans can download it for free and leave reviews. I want to let you know, this time is different. We have run into a glitch with that.
We decided to release this one to several platforms at once: (I list them below) because folk had complained they could not seem to get the book on Kobo or Apple. I was exclusive to Amazon and had all my books put in under what they call KDP, meaning that people who had a Kindle unlimited plan could download them for free at any time: and Amazon would allow me to run a special on them once every ninety days, so I could list them for free or for a reduced rate on special. People seemed to like that.
However, if you have " "gone broad" with your book, they do not allow price reductions. You can ask them to price match with the others, they don't have to do it. I did ask, and they refused and they do not allow you to run specials on Amazon unless you are exclusive to Amazon. I suppose it is one of the ways they control their market. My newest book is "wide," meaning it is listed on several ebook channels, and on everyone except Amazon, it's listed as 99 cents. Amazon lists it at $2.99 and they won't allow me to lower it. I am sorry: I didn't realize that would happen and I cannot change it for 90 days. If you have been waiting to get your copy until I drop it on special the second month out, it isn't going to happen this time. You can get it less expensive on other platforms than Kindle. You can still download it on Kindle, but it costs more.
I am listing the places it's available for you. You choose where, but know that the price won't be going to free this time (or possibly ever). I do not know whether or not I will do this with other books. I have several in the pipeline getting ready to send out. I have to find out which way works best to get the most books into the most hands. It's a sort of marketing experiment.
I love Amazon, I've worked with them for years, and I admit to being a little sad about this particular policy. I will be putting this on book funnel for those who have reviewed books for me before. If you are one of my reviewers, shoot me an email so I can get you on the book funnel list and you can write a review without it costing you. If you want to be a reviewer, in the back of all my books, I tell you how to go about that. I'd love to have all of you leave me a review. At any rate, go to my webpage, travelerpelton.com , and leave me a comment about how offering my books on more platforms is impacting you. I really care and want to know. Thanks so much for reading my books! I love you all! Here are the download addresses for the newest book:
