Howdy !

Hope you're doing well and staying sane in a crazy, crazy world! To keep you entertained and informed, here's another dose of the random things I've discovered around the interwebs.

As always, this is a new newsletter and if you've enjoyed it or found any of it useful, please let your friends know so they can subscribe to it! And also, thank YOU for reading along too!

Anyway, on to this weeks surprises...

Inform

Building a TRUE 4k home cinema projector (it’s awesome)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YfvTjQ9MCwY

imageThis one is totally different to the links that came before. In the modern day, we seem to think of anything "technological" as this box that other people create that is so complex that we would have no idea how it works/was put together.

This little tutorial give an example of what it takes to create something I would've thought was very complex: a 4K projector! But in about 15 mins, you can see that the actual components are quite basic (not that I think I could do this myself!).

If nothing else, the comments on this video are hilarious (read underneath after you watch it).

Music

Jonsi - Go

https://open.spotify.com/album/1fgtiyeUDIoUayYbwroqVH?si=TkOHTcj1Q8ePVNf-RhtIOQ

imageJonsi is one of the group members for the relatively well known Icelandic band Sigur Ros. This was one of his solo projects and it's starkly different from the more mellow/wistful/slow Sigur Ros stuff he's known for (or his previous stand alone works for that matter).

For me, the album is a reminder of Spring- it bursts with a certain joyous energy that the first song (Go Do) captures so well. Songs from this album always seem to find their way into my theatre playlists...

Gadget

Zendure Passport II

https://superstrata.kckb.st/photosbyraffy

imageThis is the first product I;m recommending that I don't directly own, but hear me out none the less. I supported the Kickstarter for the version 1 which is what I currently use as my go to for all things travel. This version ups the wattage to 61W with GaN (basically, electronic magic to make decent chargers compact). In essence, unless you have a gaming laptop, you would be able to power most USB-C PD laptops, phone and ALL your peripherals from 1 charger. Amazing!

If it wasn't for the fact the the combo of the Zendure Passport I and the Hyperjuice charger already work so well for me in my travel kit, I'd be on this in a heart beat.

PxR Update

Photos x Raffy

https://www.photosbyraffy.com

This week has been... unpredictable. I was meant to have a lot more done the non-work front, but due to all the changes in workload because of the Covid-19 spike, I had to shelve a bit of it (Sorry! But priorities...).

I have actually done enough edits to upload a few more photos to the main website. Please check that out over the next few days!

Quote I'm pondering

The magnitude of difference between billion and million can be illustrated with this example of the time scale: A million seconds is 12 days. A billion seconds is 31 years.

― Unknown

In the vein of keeping things random, this blew my mind the first time I saw it. It's only human to see a lot of zeroes and think "big number". But just HOW big that number is can often be bested shown with time. Just just of that for a second: the difference between a millionaire and a billionaire like Warren Buffett..

Thanks for joining me on yet another week of randomness!

Stay safe and remember: you're awesome!
