Today we are going to take a look at Baylor’s Men’s Program and what makes them so successful. One of the reasons is the skill development they employ for both their perimeter and post players.

Baylor is the # 2 ranked team in the nation.

Offensively they are one of the best teams in the country. One of the reasons they are ranked so high offensively is they excel in all phases of the game and I believe that is due to their skill development.image

Defensively, they are one of the best teams in the country. Baylor has always been known for their defense. It is because of their desire to play and their belief in their system.

Assistant Coach Jerome Tang of Baylor discusses the concept of “Joy” at Baylor they want to lead the country in assists. They believe what makes them so good on the perimeter is their unselfishness.

Coach Tang goes over a few drills they use to go over their spacing on the perimeter and communication. These drills help with their unselfishness Coach Tang discussed in the previous clip.

One of their main teaching point for the perimeter players is to  “pop the bubble” and “play of two” Coach Tang describes in this video clip

As coaches I think we get caught up with the X and O’s a lot of the time and typically it comes down to which team has the more skilled players. Baylor is one of the top teams nation year in and year out and I believe because of their skill development
