Coach ,
Coach Kermit Davis at a recent clinic shared a series of drills in his bag that hopefully you can carry over to your team's practice this season. These drills are focused on post entry, drive and kick, cutting to the rim and post up combined.
Dribble Follows Drill
Dribble Follows drill is an amazing drill to use at any time of the year, because it allows us to work on passing and cutting, but you will also have the option to work on post-up game for your guards and wings.
It is recommended to have a defender down low with the pad. If you have enough coaches in practice, it is also recommended to add defenders on the entry post-pass. Watch the video here for more details:
Dribble Moves/Post Entry
Another great drill here that allows us to work on post-entry pass, as well as drive and kick. Just like in the video again, if you have enough people in practice, it is recommended to add the defenders in to make it harder to pass, it gives clues to players that they can read and react.
But even without the defenders, you can set up cones and still use this drill and build great habits. You can choose to rotate each player at each spot, or you can do bigs and guards/forwards separately.
Dribble Moves/Post Entry Drill
The reason why these two drills make sense is that they are simple and allow us to work on fundamentals.
Keep it simple and always keep improving.
