Most coaches attempt to find a way to make sure their players get a certain # of makes a day. Coaches give players drills to do on their own outside of practice.

However, sometimes players don't have the means or opportunity to get their makes in during the course of a day.

The struggle we all as coaches have is TIME.

Where can a coach fit in shooting in practice?

Team warm-up shooting drills are a great way to get a ton of makes in - in a short period of time.

Former FGCU HC Michael Fly and current Mizzou Director of Scouting & Analytics shares some of his favorite shooting warm-up drills.

Here are 3 of Coach Fly’s favorite shooting warm-up drills:

#1 - 6 Minute Shooting

The drill gets a team a quick amount of shots - 15-17 feet 3 spots and then moves back to 3’s.

This drill allows a team to see the ball go through the net a ton of times.

The players have to rebound their own balls.

This is a very good mental drill that allows guys to feel good about themselves at the beginning of practice by seeing the ball go through the net.

#2 - 30 Spot Shooting

The 30 Spot Shooting Drill is a great way to work on touch.

This is a solid drill to get your team accustomed to the floor and the ball.

The drill starts close and then keeps moving back.

The drill allows the team to get all game-speed makes.

#3 - Cone Shooting

Cone Shooting is a drill that gets players warm-up shots on the move.

The drill starts with two lines - a passing line and a shooting line.

The players get their own rebounds.

This is a good drill to work on finishing moves, floaters, passing, & footwork.

Coach Fly implements working on jump stops and shot fakes in his drill.
