Dallas Mavs Assistant Coach, Sean Sweeney is a firm believer that buying into core principles help make up a winning culture.
Coach Sweeney has largely been credited in the past for the development of Giannis Antetokounmpo during his time in Milwaukee and was Giannis's preferred workout partner and being a catalyst of helping the Bucks build a winning championship culture.

Coach Sweeney preaches that there other core values outside of just the basketball going through the net.
One of his core principles consists of being the “Most Together” team.
He believes that the team has to come first in all aspects to be a successful team.
Just as Marines always have to put the other Marines first.
Offensive Core Principles
Coach Sweeney’s offensive core principles starts with the philosophy of shot selection.
The goal is to get a great shot ASAP.
Another key component is spacing.
“Spacing is offense - Offense is spacing.”
Great spacing equates to more penetration and kick opportunities which will help get open looks.

Defensive Core Principles
Coach Sweeney’s defensive core principles revolve around teams taking long contested 2 point shots.
This is done through effort and basketball IQ.
A huge part of accomplishing this goal is keeping the basketball out of the paint.
Allowing the basketball in the paint allows penetration and kicks.
