Coach ,

Continuing our series where we feature coaches each day and share a topic and clip that can give you an edge this season.

Day 4  BasketHead-Twitter Account and Video Analyst

BasketHead is a Twitter account (@the_BasketHead) which does a daily breakdown of some of the top coaches in the Euroleague and European basketball.

There is a reason why NBA and college coaches are constantly watching Euroleague and international games.  They are looking for new concepts and ideas to use with their own teams for a winning edge.

I was recently asked by the BasketHead team to collaborate with them on a project breaking down Xavi Pascual’s offense system while at Panathinaikos.  Coach Pascual is currently the head coach of Zenit St. Petersburg, a professional team in Russia.

He also coached FC Barcelona and won a Euroleague championship with them as the youngest coach ever to win a Euroleague title.  Starting as a youth coach, he worked his way up the coaching ladder.

When I started studying international basketball and concepts in 2007, Coach Pascual’s FC Barcelona teams were one of the teams I would watch frequently.  Many of his concepts ended up in my videos  European Set Plays and Great Pick and Roll Plays

Xavi Pascual Playbook-Panathinaikos is a collection of the half court offensive actions used by Coach Pascual.

In this clinic, the BasketHead team discusses actions such as:

  • Sideline and Baseline Plays
  • Zipper Actions
  • Horns Actions

So if you are looking for new ideas to add to your playbook for the upcoming season, Xavi Pascual Playbook-Panathinaikos is a good resource for you. The best part it is 100% free.

To Your Success,
