Legendary Coach Kim Mulkey just got her 4th championship last night, this time with the LSU Tigers. Today, we are going to go over a couple of plays that Coach Mulkey still keeps in her bag for crunch time. Let’s take a look at Quick Hitter and BLOB play

1 Down

This play is very effective to create an opportunity for your post-player. It's very simple - the ball will go to the side to where the post player we want to get open is. The other post will sprint to high post. Once the defense starts reading the play and adjusts and has the other post player help while the perimeter player on the weak side takes the post, we can set up the screen for our perimeter player and have them shoot an open shot. Watch Coach Mulkey break down the 1 Down play below:

11 Inbounds

This play is great to have your shooter set up for an open shot. If we can’t take the shot, we can get the inbounder open for another shot. If none of the other options gets us an open shot, we now have the ball on the wing and we are ready to start a new play or just simple ball screen action. These plays are very easy to implement and definitely worth having in your bag. We need to make sure we are able to get not just our shooters open, but also take advantage of our post players and give them the opportunity to score.

Always keep improving,
