Coach Esleeck has worked at the D1 level with programs such as Mercer, UNC Wilmington and UNC Greenboro. He has a reputation within the coaching community as an outstanding player-development coach.

We have heard that famous coaching cliche “The film doesn’t lie”.

While coaches often use film with their teams to review game performance, using film for individual player development might be more important in your player's growth. Coach Esleeck gives you a way to incorporate this teaching tool into your development plans to help your players get better in Using Film for Individual Skill Development.

In this clinic, Coach Esleeck discusses:

  • Using a spreadsheet to help your players keep track of their shot selection and how effective those shots are within the offense.
  • Helping them add solutions to their game as well as remove ineffective skills.
  • Layering individual clips with clips from NBA players as a comparison to help them improve their skills.
  • How individual improvement clips can be used as a recruiting tool and with social media

One thing that I like about Coach Esleeck’s clinic was his discussion of giving his players options when working on their individual game (1 foot vs. 2 foot runner for example) and helping them discover which skill/technique works best for them vs. telling them to do it in one particular way only.

You can learn more by watching this clip from Coach Esleeck talking about using his camera phone to work with players on their shot.
