Coach ,
Former WNBA coaching legend Lin Dunn has been coaching since the 1970’s. She is currently an assistant coach for the Kentucky Wildcats. Her tenure as a head coach includes the WNBA for the Indiana Fever, Seattle Storm and the Portland Power.
She is known in the industry as being an offensive guru.
One concept which Coach Dunn is a big believer in is using the pinch post in her offense. The pinch post-action has been made famous through coaches like Phil Jackson and Roy Williams.
The pinch post action is a great way to spread the floor and create space for an open shot or a drive, while also allowing post players to be engaged in the game and draw the defense away from the basket.
Coach Dunn’s pinch post action consists of many actions -- here are the top 3 actions:
#1 - The Pass Ahead
The pass ahead is one of the best passes an offensive player can make in transition. It puts pressure on the defense to get back and get in position to guard.
In Coach Dunn’s pinch post offense, the pass ahead initiates an action.
The action consists of the pass ahead → into a ball screen or into a screen away for a different player to catch the ball by the 5.

#2 - Pass to High Post
The pass to the high post is an action that is known as a pressure release. This is usually a great action when a ball handler has a really good defender hounding the basketball.
In Coach Dunn’s pinch post offense, the pass to the high post initiates a quick cut off of the ball. The passer who throws to the 5 man will cut on the left or right of the receiver.
Then the 5 will go right into a quick DHO.

#3 - Pass to Post Brush
The pass to post brush is a great action to try to get a quick layup. On the pass, the passer will screen away on another player.
That player can come off the screen or curl the screen towards the basket. Also, the screener could slip the screen to the basket.
This is one of the most common pinch post actions in basketball because it is very hard to defend.
