Coach ,

Last season, they went 26-5 and advanced to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament.

The Chicago Series is an action that is run through the big. The action includes a pin down screen into a dribble handoff.
It is a very hard action to defend because of multiple actions that take place in a short amount of time. The defense has to decide how to guard the big who has the ball, then the pin down, then they have to figure out how to guard the DHO.
This creates an advantage for the offense. The defense has the complicated task of figuring out if they want to switch, go under, or over in the scenario. Coach explains in this video (click on image for free video):
Teaching the Chicago Series
The Chicago Series is an action that consists of a lot of reads.
In the process of teaching, the drills that need to be put in place need to be read based. To start, teaching the different reads without defense is a great first step.
This will allow the players to get comfortable understanding the reads without complications.
Explain to the players why they’re doing what they’re doing. Once the concepts are picked up, then add defense.
Have the defenders change the way they defend during the course of the drill without telling the offense. This will put the stress on the offense to make the proper reads. Coach explains the reads in this video:
If you’re looking for a high-power - hard to defend offensive action then the Chicago Series is perfect!
