Iverson ATO Set Series to enhance your Playbook

Coach ,

The Iverson cut has been used consistently across the NBA to get teams' best scorers open.

The Iverson action has been used for years to create driving lanes and space for players who can attack off the dribble, but through the years it has evolved into so much more.

The cut got its name in the early 2000’s because of NBA Hall of Famer Allen Iverson. Iverson was extremely hard to guard when he had space to iso. The cut was created to give him areas to go to work.

The Iverson action is now used in so many ways and on every level. The action has become a staple in the college & NBA game. If you have a dynamic Guard or a creative Big, you can find quite a few great actions.

The Iverson backdoor is a great ATO set used against teams that contest the passing lanes. If you’re looking to pick on a defender it is a good wrinkle to put in your offense. If the backdoor is not open, the ballhander is then on the wing in an iso situation.

The Iverson Elbow Curl is another great ATO set. The set can also be used as a lob set.

The first read off the pass to the elbow is the layup. If the player can curl around and score at the basket then take the two points. If the defender is taking away the layup, then the big at the elbow can come pin down for the shooter to come off for the shot.

The Iverson over/under is a great design to set up into a Horns action. The Iverson Horns Brush starts in the Iverson Series, and then the action ends up in Horns.

The action allows for the bigs to be in a scoring area, instead of being pushed out so far in Horns. It is a great way to disguise a Horns action.

This set works to get a post player a brush screen from a guard to allow an open look at the basket.
