Hello !
I've been doing a 12-week year plan most quarters for the last six or seven years.
Often my plan is fantastic and I hit all my targets. But sometimes? It's like I made the plan while I was high on Oreo cookies and A&W root beer because there was no way, with my normal energy and commitments, that I'd be able to accomplish half of what I envisioned in the heady rush of declaring how productive I'd be.
Looking back over plans of days gone by, it's the Q4 goals that I most often miss the mark on. Because in my mind, November and December are not much different from any other couple of months.
Our family doesn't celebrate Thanksgiving in November. Canadian thanksgiving is basically just a normal turkey dinner but with pie at the end. (And Mr. Bloom does all the cooking anyway—for which I give thanks every darn day!). And since our boys are grown-ass men who haven't introduced grandchildren into the family mix, Christmas is an equally easy to plan and execute holiday.
And yet, and yet!, I tend to get about half as much done in the last three months of most years than i can get done in other 12-week blocks. It's not about having less time in my case, it seems to be about having black bear energy with a body that wants to hibernate as the dark comes earlier and earlier.
It was this reflection that led me to change up the focus of my 12-week year workshop for the last quarter of this year. I'd love to share the planning process with you in a free workshop—
Your Next 12 Weeks as a Romance Author
Next Thursday, October 1, we'll create a clear, realistic plan for your next author season.
Whether you need to finish a draft, revise a book, prepare to publish, build your author home, or figure out how readers will find you, you'll leave with a next step that makes sense.
The live workshop is 90 minutes long, and the replay will be available for 72 hours afterward.
If you, like me, have made plans that left you feeling guilty for missing deadlines you gave yourself, join us! I think it will be a fun time!
xo,
