Tomorrow! And next Thursday, too.

Hello !

TOMORROW!

A quick reminder that tomorrow (Thursday), I'm hosting Teddy Smith to deliver a workshop called

How to Launch a Romance Book on Amazon

(even without a big audience...).

The members of Author Ever After had the opportunity to learn a version of this workshop last week and they left so inspired that almost every author who attended up-leveled her Amazon A+ content. (Something I've been suggesting they do forever ... Teddy made it happen!)

I hope you'll join us. There's no charge—just great info! Click the picture for the time and to register.

NEXT WEEK

Years ago, I was teaching a writing workshop and dropped the phrase "shitty first draft." You know, the Anne Lamott classic.

I was fully expecting everyone to nod along. Instead, one of my participants, who was writing in her second language, went quiet. Then she emailed me, upset, and said she wasn't going to continue the program. She thought I was telling her to flush what she'd written down the toilet. To throw it all away.

That moment stopped me cold.

I'd used that phrase dozens of times without thinking twice. But for her, those words didn't land as permission—they landed as rejection. It sent me down a long rabbit hole of thinking about the language we use around our drafts, and how much that language shapes whether we show up to the page at all.

That's how Scrappy Rough Draft was born—both my book and the workshop I teach. Not because "shitty first draft" is wrong (it works beautifully for a lot of writers), but because I believe every writer deserves to find the words that make them lean in rather than back away. The right framing can be the difference between a story that gets written and one that stays stuck in your head forever.

Which is exactly why I'm so excited to introduce you to the Writer Igniter FLOW Summit, created by a writing teacher I've long admired, Gabriela Pereira of DIY MFA.

Here are some of the great sessions she's presenting:

Sarah Elisabeth Sawyer talks about Writing Outside Your Lived Experience and how to use research to create authentic stories that you can stand behind with confidence.

Daria White Osah discusses A Writer's Guide to Time Management and gives tips so you can be more productive and get more writing done.

Monica Hay shares insights on why Focus Fails in Isolation and how community can help writers find their focus and stay accountable.

Sarah Elle explains The Five Key Beats of a Novel, what they are and how they work, with a classic example to illustrate the techniques.

And my session called... Scrappy Rough Draft where Gabriella and I talk about some of the brain science around creating motivation to sit down and write.

There is no charge to participate in real time or if you watch each session within 24 hours. You can also upgrade to the All-Access Pass and get continued access to the replays, along with other goodies like audio recordings, transcripts, and a Bonus Bundle (over $800 value!) with amazing resources from many of the speakers (including a copy of my book, Scrappy Rough Draft—the exact version I sell on Amazon for $9.99).
