Finishing those things on the list

Hey ,

I keep a list in my mind of the things I want and need to do. Usually these things are only important to me; other people don't know if I do them or not. Nevertheless, I start to feel like I'm behind schedule or a bad person if I don't cross them off (1) my mental (2) list as I'd planned.

If the thing is a craft (3) project, I find time to do it. Sometimes I don't quite make the deadline (4) I have in my mind. But when the only pressure is from myself, that's OK.

At other times, there's a real deadline. If my project is a gift for a baby, it's good to give it while the baby is still young! Or maybe I'm making a piece of clothing for myself. Then I probably need to finish it so I can wear it. But, in this case there's some flexibility with the time. That's unless what I'm making is for me to wear to something special, like someone's wedding, then I somehow have to finish it, or have a good clothing Plan B!.

Then there are things I need to do around the house. Due to my irregular (5) work hours, for me, that's a bigger problem. Somehow I always wash my clothes and clean the floor of my flat (and the stairs, when it's my turn). I plan what I'll do, and when I'll do it, depending on the times I'll be at work.

However, I don't do some other jobs around my flat as often as I should. Jobs like sweeping the balcony, as I talked about last week.

Well, last week, I was super productive. I swept the balcony a couple of days before my window cleaning day. My windows are now sparkling clean (I did the inside of the windows one day and the outside the next day).  Plus, I baked.

I achieved a lot, and the list in my mind feels shorter at the moment, which makes me feel good. Yay!

How about you, ? Do you have a list in your head of jobs you need to do? Do you put yourself under pressure to do everything? Do you go to bed feeling terrible when you don't get things done?

I hope you have a happy, stress-free week!

(1) cross (something) off (a list) - take it off the list, maybe because you have finished it, or maybe because you don't need to do it

(2) mental (list) - the one in my head. I haven't written it on paper.

(3) craft - short for handcraft, a general word for all the ways of making things by hand. Knitting, sewing and leather work are all crafts.

(4) make a deadline - finish something by the deadline

(5) irregular - not regular, the opposite of regular
