Greetings ,
I decided to walk to Frankfurt last weekend. The plan was to go through forests and farmland most of the way and not walk on streets too much of the time.
Notice (1) I said 'the plan' - it's not what happened.
In preparation for the walk, I used a map app and found a route (2). I copied the route and had everything ready to go.
The weather could have ruined (3) everything. If it had been solid rain, I would have cancelled my plan. But there wasn't any rain. It wasn't as beautiful as the day before (no blue sky or sunshine), just high clouds, but that was OK.
The part through my town was easy. I knew exactly (4) where I had to go to enter the forest. And in the forest, everything was exactly the same as on the map.
I was following a well-made vehicle (5) trail. There were even signs for walkers. On my map, this trail left the forest and then went through some fields.
However, that's not what happened. The trail I was on suddenly entered a Nature Protection Zone; there was a sign with heaps of information. And right there, it became a small walking path.
That's being nice. I thought there was a path through the last bit of forest, and I tried to find a way through it, but the path disappeared. It was overgrown with shrubs that blocked the way. And there was water lying about.
I couldn't get through.
What should I do?
Back on the well-made path, there was a sign saying it was part of a running trail for the town next to mine. I took that. I wasn't sure where I'd end up, but I'd figure it out (6).
And that's what happened. I ended up in a town I knew, walked along the streets to a city, and then followed the Main River to Frankfurt.
It wasn't what I'd planned, but the end result was the same. A success - except for my muddy boots!
Do things always go as you planned, ? Let me know - positive or negative stories....
Have a fantastic week,
Andrea
(1) notice - see or become aware of something or someone
(2) route - a way between one place and another
(3) ruined - spoiled or destroyed something
(4) exactly - shows that it's no more and no less, or no different to what I said. What I said and the real thing are identical.
(5) vehicle - a thing used to transport people, things or both, e.g. cars, bikes, trucks
(6) figure (something) out - find a solution, understand (after a lot of thought)
