It's the end of the year

Hey ,

Here we go - here's my end-of-year wrap-up (1).

The herbs are growing well. I put the rosemary into a bigger pot in August, and it looks a lot happier. The sage is doing well, but in spring, I need to move it to a bigger pot as well.

The trip to Nuremberg and Munich was fun. It was sunny but cold in Nuremberg. I walked around the Christmas Market, went up to the castle, and bought gingerbread from a tiny outlet store. Unlike last time I was there, this time I found the Pegnitz River and walked along it for a while, crossing a few of the bridges.

In Munich, I bought wool. The sad thing is the shop has been sold to a new lady. She doesn't seem to be as nice as the old owner, so that might be my last visit.

That's OK, looking back, this year I've done more sewing than knitting (but I am knitting something at the moment).

It was good to walk the next couple of stages of the Way of St James. The week at Easter was rainy, but I finished from Trier to Metz. Then in October, I walked from Metz to a small town called Vaucouleurs. It didn't rain at all that week, and from Wednesday afternoon onwards, it was warm and sunny.

I carry food for lunch and sometimes dinner or breakfast with me. Usually, that's bread, butter, and maybe cheese. It was really easy to buy a baguette or two each day, far easier than carrying sliced bread with me.

The biggest news for the year is that I changed jobs. I'm not an English trainer anymore. Now, I work in the hospitality industry (2) in a German-speaking workplace.

It was a huge change as I have worked in a school my whole life. But everything went well. I enjoy the new work, including the maths I have to do 😀. My probation period ended at the end of October, so I'm permanent now.  Yay!

I hope you have a Happy Christmas and a great start to the New Year. I'll write again in the middle of January.

Stay safe,

Andrea
