Howdy ,
For me, breakfast is an important meal in my day. I know for some it's not. They don't have anything, or they just drink a cup of coffee. But that's not me.
When we were children, we ate breakfast as a family. That was easier at the weekends, but even on school mornings, we sat and ate together. Most of the family ate porridge (1) and then toast. I really don't like porridge, so my breakfast was just toast.
Then, on the farm, the routine changed a bit. Before we went to school each day, we milked the cows or fed calves, then ate breakfast.
At the weekend or in the school holidays, when we had more time, we didn't just eat porridge and toast. If there was food left over from dinner the night before, we'd heat that up or maybe cook eggs or something. It sounds like a big meal, but we were using a lot of energy doing farm work!
Then I started my first job, and soon moved into a flat by myself. Breakfast was still part of my day, although it was a lot simpler than those farm breakfasts! I didn't want to get up extra early to prepare food and eat it. In the end, I stopped making toast and just ate bread.
Yes, I can skip (2) breakfast (and from time to time I have), but my day just doesn't feel right when I do. Years ago, a friend said that breakfast is the brain food. That's an idea that I like, even if it's not really true.
These days, I still eat a couple of slices of bread for breakfast. Well, most of the time I do. If I stay at a hotel where a buffet breakfast is included in the price, then I'll eat several different things.
After that, I head out sightseeing. And the food from breakfast keeps me going until dinner time. I usually don't stop for lunch. There's too much to see and do!
What do you think of breakfast, ? Do you need to eat something to start your day well, or do you prefer to miss it, or just drink something?
Have a week of fantastic breakfasts, or not, whatever you prefer ... 😉.

(1) porridge - a thick, soft paste made of rolled oats that you boil in water or milk
(2) skip - miss, not have
