Something to listen to while driving

Dear ,

When I was a child, most cars had a radio. They were only basic radios - the one in my first car couldn't pick up many stations. (Note - my first car was as old as me!)

My next car had a radio, but it had a cassette player, too. That was great. I had cassettes (who didn't?!), so I kept my favourite ones in my car and listened to them as I drove. When I had that car, I was doing lots of long trips, so having the music to listen to was great.

Then I got a new car. Although it was a few years younger than my last car, it didn't have a cassette player, just a radio. So, no music on my long trips.

When I had that car, we had two or three large, expensive tractors on the farm. They were more modern than my car - they didn't have a cassette player, but a raido and a CD player!

When I finally upgraded (1) my car over a decade later, my new car had a CD player (just like the tractors). I didn't use it as I only ever bought two or three CDs.

Having music in the car wasn't important as I wasn't commuting (2) long distances anymore.

For me, the sound system in the car didn't have to be the biggest or best. I didn't like having the volume super loud because I wanted to hear the noises of the road as well. And driving with the music as loud as it could go and the windows down so that people looked was never my thing.

Even today, you can still see that - young people with their music booming, driving through the streets.

But the other day, it wasn't a car. I heard loud music and looked around. To my surprise, it was someone on a motorbike. I guess that's why the music was loud, so the driver could hear it over the sound of the bike. Totally crazy if you ask me!

Have you always had cars with cassette players or CD players, ? And what do you think of motorbikes with sound systems?

Have a great week,

Andrea
