Competition Theme and Purpose:

In celebration of Law Day on May 1, 2024, our competition aims to acknowledge the contributions of lawyers in society and foster an interest in pursuing legal careers among school-aged children. Our organization, through the Journey to Esquire Scholarship & Leadership Program, is committed to providing academic and professional development for students interested in becoming lawyers.

Competition Details:

The theme for this year's competition is "Toward a More Perfect Union," focusing on movements against discrimination, unequal treatment, and protests advocating for the ideals of equality and justice. We invite middle school students in Pinellas and Hillsborough County to participate in this exciting opportunity to express their thoughts through both writing and visual arts.

Writing Competition:

Students are encouraged to submit nonfiction essays on the topic "The Importance of the Judicial System." Submissions are due by February 06, 2024, and will be judged based on writing quality, analysis, originality, research quality, and compliance with the rules.

Fiction Writing Competition:

We are also accepting entries for Legal Short Fiction. Students can showcase their creativity by submitting original works that explore the role of law or lawyers in society. The winning entry will receive a $500 Visa Gift Card.

Art Submission:

For the art competition, students can submit original visual artworks in any medium that align with the theme. Prizes include gift cards, and winning entries may be featured in our program.

Submission Guidelines and Deadline:

All entries must be submitted by March 16, 2024, 11:59 pm EST. Detailed submission guidelines and the entry form can be found [here]. For any questions or clarifications, please feel free to contact us at info@journeytoesquire.com.
