Howdy folks,
Here it is! My next Sheriff Sol Redding western Redding's Fandango will launch on June 27, exclusively to subscribers of this newsletter. That's two weeks before anyone else gets it, along with exclusive discounts and extra content not available anywhere else! Here's the cover - you're the first to see it.
I'm right excited about it all - I hope you are too. It's only 14 days away... but if you can't wait until then, here's a sneak peak of chapter one - exclusively for you, as my way of saying thank you for being a part of the NBW community:
Phew, now that's out the way, here are some free books, an update about Tumbleweed Wagons, an examination of the jobs available to women across the West, a great video documentary about the Transcontinental Railroad, and a recipe for President Abraham Lincoln's favorite dish, chicken fricassee
Darn it, I've got to get a move on. Here, have a glass of redeye on me, there’s a bottle over there if you want more. As my ol’ grandpa used to say, ‘never drink unless you’re alone or with somebody.'

Tumbleweed Wagons
It was one of the most dangerous jobs on offer in the Old West – collecting the roughest, toughest murderers, rapists, rustlers and other criminals and sending them back to civilization to face justice. And there was only one vehicle fit to do the job – the humble tumbleweed wagon, a jail on wheels. Find out more here:

Did you know?
Prostitution was a common occupation for women living in the Wild West. Because women were outnumbered by men, their services were well-received. 'Soiled doves' outnumbered other women 25 to 1. However, this was not the only job option available for single women who entertained for a living. Saloon girls, dance hall girls, and hostesses were entertainers who sang, danced, and chatted with patrons. Female entertainers earned $10 per week plus commissions on drinks sold. They would often chat or dance with a patron and then direct him to the bar to earn money on his drink purchases. Some of these women also chose to offer up services as 'fallen angels', while others strictly worked as entertainers.
Documentary: End of Track
End of Track is the story of the Transcontinental Railroad’s construction march across southern Wyoming and the growing pains of a state in its infancy. It’s a story of incredible engineering achievements and boisterous “Hell on Wheels” towns. A story of greed and corruption, murder and mayhem; of a clash of cultures and Native American retaliation. But it’s also a story of hope and ambition, determination and unimagined success. Find out more about the Transcontinental Railroad in this great documentary:
