Tipi heaven
For more than 400 years, the Native American Plains Tipi has been regarded by many as amongst the finest of all movable shelters.
The tipi’s unique ventilation system means they stay cool in summer and warm and cozy in winter. They are resistant to rain and wind, and their shape invites those in them to connect with nature and tribal spirits.
To Native Americans, the tipi was everything – home and church, a sacred place of being and sharing with family, friends, nature and the gods. Find out more why experts consider tipis amongst the world’s most efficient shelters.

Did you know?
Apache leader Geronimo fought against both Mexico and the United States when they expanded into Apache tribal lands in what is now Arizona. He led several raids after his wife and children were killed by Mexican troops in the 1850s. He earned his name for his bravery in battle, where he killed several Mexican soldiers with a knife amid flying bullets. Settlers believed he was the “worst Indian who ever lived,” but after he surrendered to US troops in 1886, he converted to Christianity and even rode in Teddy Roosevelt’s inaugural parade.
