Good afternoon ,
It's that time of year again... tax time 😫
In these tough economic times, tax preparation can cost upwards of $400 for a basic return.
However, there are some great FREE resources for yourself or someone you know who needs help preparing and filing their taxes this tax season.
The IRS's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) programs offer free, basic tax return preparation to qualified individuals.
1) The VITA program has operated for over 50 years. VITA sites offer free tax help to people who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns, including:
- People who generally make $60,000 or less
- Persons with disabilities; and
- Limited English-speaking taxpayers
2) In addition to VITA, the TCE program, managed by AARP volunteers, offers free tax help, particularly for those who are 60 years of age and older, specializing in questions about pensions and retirement-related issues unique to seniors.
I was a VITA volunteer for over four tax seasons!
Pro Tip: Call them or email them to get an appointment, most sites don't allow walk-ins. Also, they can qualify you for the program with a quick intake interview over the phone, so you don't waste your time showing up and not getting help.

I hope this email helps someone save on the cost of getting their taxes prepared and filed this year and gets their ENTIRE refund back!
All the best,
