How you can turn "Overtourism" into "Positive Impact" in Mexico

International Volunteer Day (celebrated on December 5th) highlights the benefits of volunteering for individuals, as well as for communities, countries and organizations.
When we travel, we have an environmental, cultural and economic impact on the place we visit. Be a conscious traveler by protecting and preserving the places you visit, respecting and learning from the local culture and promoting sustainable and responsible tourism for everyone’s benefit. . Volunteering is just one of the ways of leaving a positive print on the places we visit without falling into "over-tourism" practices.
If you feel like volunteering in Mexico, here are some ideas!
Help out at a local animal shelter or rescue center.
In case you didn't know, Mexico is the country in Latin America with the largest number of dogs, with 19 million. Unfortunately, it also has the first place for the most stray dogs. Here are some animal shelters in the Riviera Maya where even the smallest help, like giving the dogs some quality walk or cuddle time, is highly appreciated: Coco's Bienestar Animal, SOS El Arca, Mi Amigo de la Calle, Riviera Rescue y Voluntarios Perrunos Playa.
Collaborate at community centers.
Community centers often host activities such as art and yoga classes and they are always in need of some volunteer help.
Help children and young people by donating books and sports equipment.
If you are looking for an opportunity to help the youngest in our community, here are some options! Organizations such as Contando con un Amigo, Centro de Atención Integral PDC, and Libros Libres are always in need of donations of books, school items, art supplies, didactic materials, sports equipment, etc. If you don't have the time to bring something to donate, we can buy the items of your choice for you and deliver them to your chosen charity.
Help local organizations with just one click.
At loQsea.com we not only work to connect our customers with the right stores, services and products to save them time, but we’re also involved with our local community and their needs. 10% of the online tips you leave when you place an order with us are donated each month to a local cause or association.
Check our social networks to see our monthly donations and the different associations you can help either with materials or as a volunteer. If you prefer, you can also make a specific contribution to a local foundation of your choice through our platform.
In the past months, thanks to the support of our customers, we have been able to help The Snoopi Project, a canine welfare organization that provides homes, vaccinations and sterilizations for dogs from local families in need of support. loQsea.com collaborated with 2 dog houses and sterilizations for a cat and a dog. We have also made several BeeBags (bags with food and personal hygiene products) for people in need in Playa del Carmen. With your help, we hope to continue supporting our community even more.
Any collaboration is welcome and our local community is very grateful for it!
