Why Thanksgiving is NOT Celebrated in Mexico?

Nov 23, 2022 11:31 pm

This American tradition (which is also celebrated in Canada, but on the second Monday of October) commemorates the harvest festival that the first English settlers (Pilgrims) shared with the Wampanoag Native Americans in what is now Massachusetts (USA) in 1621. Mexico does not share these same English roots and does not explicitly celebrate this holiday.

However, in Playa del Carmen it has become a popular festivity, due to its American visitors who spend their time here during this date.
