Día de Muertos, celebrated on November 1st and 2nd, is one of the most interesting festivities of the Mexican culture. Instead of commemorating these days with sorrow and sadness, it is one of the most beloved and colorful celebrations in the country: it is not only about food, but also about family, friends and community.

Some things you need to know:

1. The most popular dishes during these days are sugar skulls, Pan de Muerto and the classic tamales or the delicious mole. Remember that you can order any of the traditional dishes from our great Chefs and enjoy them in the comfort of your vacation home!

2. There are many ways to honor Día de Muertos: you can visit the cemetery, decorate your home with flowers and candles, or even build your own altar to remember your loved ones. Are you up for it? All you need is a small table, flowers, Pan de Muerto and/or sugar skulls, fruits, photos of your deceased loved ones, and their favorite drink and food. 🕯️ Don't worry, at loQsea.com, we have everything you need to put it together!

3. Most people wear costumes or masks to commemorate the occasion, and yes, that includes you! You can try your Catrin or Catrina makeup (colorful skeletons with big hats or flowers in their hair!). We have a tutorial for you here, and you can order everything you need to make it happen here; so get to work!

4. For some, it is important to wear black clothes on this day, but others prefer to wear white or red as a way of showing respect. Are you a friend of a local family? You can ask them about this tradition and maybe even be invited to join them.

If you’re in the Mexican Caribbean, enjoy these special days with the help of loQsea.com. We can do your shopping, get your decorations, help with ANY other request you may have, and even take care of your tickets for the Life and Death Festival at Xcaret. Don't miss the opportunity to be part of this popular Mexican festivity!

Let's celebrate Día de Muertos!
