Let’s Take Care of our Mental Health! 🥰
Last 10th of October was International Mental Health Day and the perfect excuse to remember HOW to keep this important part of our lives happy and healthy!
Many scientific studies point towards serotonin as one of the chemicals responsible for producing “happiness”; so it's definitely a good idea to take care of this neurotransmitter's levels in our body 🙂
Here's some advice:
1) Sleep well and take time off when needed 🌙
Sleeping too much, or not enough, can affect your levels of serotonin. There are several techniques to fall asleep if you suffer from insomnia: listening to white noise, practicing controlled breathing, and doing some relaxation exercises are the most common ones.

2) Let your body enjoy some healthy sunlight

This serotonin is then usually transformed into melatonin... the hormone that makes you feel sleepy; that’s why sometimes after a day at the beach under the sun we tend to feel tired (in a good way) 😴

3) Take care of your physical body as well
Mental and physical aspects are deeply related, so if you neglect one, you’ll probably feel the negative effects on the other one too. Join a gym, practice any sport of your preference or do some exercise at home. It’s important that you find a physical activity that you love, so you actually enjoy and keep up with it regularly.

Certain foods help us produce serotonin and you should definitely try to incorporate them into your daily diet. Fish such as salmon, certain nuts, spinach, pure quality chocolate and good and not over processed coffee can be your best allies in improving your happiness 😁
Don't forget about these healthy eating habits while on vacation! If you’re planning to travel to the Mexican Caribbean, remember that you can still eat healthy and organic if you wish to do so. You can order all your groceries and even dinner from healthy restaurants, or have a chef prepare healthy meals for you.
