Hi ,
I've ticked off a title on my TBR list and read Planet of the Apes. (Did you know it was based on a book? Come on, be honest).
It's an older novel, so it's narrative is akin to reading an essay with chunks of dialogue here and there. But it's the ending that I was interested in. It's considered a classic work as is the Chuck Heston film of '68. That film was one of the first and most endearing twist endings in sci-fi and film.
Then of course we have the '01 film with it's own ending (which we pretend doesn't exist). The book surprised me as it was closer to one film than the other. Can you guess which?
We love closure, but for some a reason the most memorable and talked about endings last is because they're ambiguous. It's upto us. If you don't know what I mean if I say the word 'Inception', then what are you doing here?!
What's your preference? Do you have a favourite ending, closed or open?
